Program Coordinator: Concerts South Africa

The above three-year contract exists within the SAMRO Foundation. The position is to be part of a team handling the implementation as well as the administrating of the regional “Concerts South Africa” (Concerts SA) project, specifically managing venues, promoters and other partners. The Project Coordinator will have both administrative and social/artistic responsibilities. They will co-ordinate aspects of the Concerts SA workstream in accordance with the goals of the Concerts SA project, with reporting to the Concerts SA Project Manager. The position is based at The SAMRO Foundation in Braamfontein.

The ideal candidate is one who has successfully completed a degree or has experience in the arts, arts administration and music with at least 3 years event and project management experience.  The candidate will be a strong arts administrator with an in depth knowledge and understanding of live music development as well as artists and events management.

Experiences in the following areas will be necessary:

  • Experience working with musicians and artists;
  • Coordination of events and projects;
  • Experience with administrative procedures and systems;
  • Arts & Culture Management;
  • Report writing; and
  • Marketing and PR management.

The following will be required:

  • Meticulous administrative abilities;
  • Excellent literary skills including comprehensive reading, and writing and editing texts for various contexts;
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders;  
  •  Strong project analyses skills with a focus on statistical, financial and non-financial information/data;
  • Public communications (Media, Social Media etc.) ;
  • General knowledge of the music and arts sector would be advantageous; and
  • Proven experience in the creation/production of marketing materials/literature such as brochures, press releases etc.

Excellent practical experience with MS Office (Word, Xcel and PowerPoint) is vital, as well as data processing knowledge.  A valid driver’s license with own vehicle is essential.

Concerts SA is a South African-Norwegian Live Music Development Program administered by SAMRO Foundation in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy and its implementation partner, Concerts Norway.
