Legal Advisor

The above vacancy exists within the Legal Services department and reports to the Senior Legal Advisor. The purpose of this role is to provide legal services and support to the company, as well as play a support role to the Legal Services General Manager.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has successfully completed an LLB degree, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as well as minimum 2 years of post-articles experience.

Key Performance areas:

  • Supervise Copyright Infringement,dispute Resolution and general litigation.
  • Contract negotiation, drafting andvetting and management.
  • Legal research, advice & queries.
  • Legal Risk Management & Compliance    
  • Copyright infringement action.
  • Collections (Debtors Book and Tenants)

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant legal qualification – LLB degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, of which at least 2 years should have been in a senior or supervisory role.
  • 2 years post articles litigation andcommercial experience in a law firm and general contract work.
  • 1 year compliance/ risk managementexperience would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders(attorneys, legal consultants, service providers etc.).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines andwork under pressure.
  • Ability to oversee and manage legalprojects.
  • Excellent computer skills (includingword processing and spreadsheet packages).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of copyright law ispreferable.
  • Experience with employment law matters is preferable.
