UX/UI Developer (24 month fixed term contract)

The purpose of the role is to create digital experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and visual

appealing user interfaces accessible to users. The role requires researching user needs, creating

prototypes and wireframes, test usability, and iterate designs to optimize user satisfaction. They are

also responsible for creating a seamless experience that is visually appealing, enjoyable, and easy to

navigate.

The UX Developer will be responsible for creating intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing digital

experiences that enhance user accessibility and satisfaction. This role involves researching user

needs, developing wireframes and prototypes, testing usability, and iterating designs to optimize the

overall user experience. The ideal candidate will ensure that SAMRO’s systems offer seamless

navigation and a high-quality user interface.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools.

- Experience in front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

- C# knowledge would be advantageous.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a user-centred design mindset.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Goals:

- Continuously refine SAMRO’s design system, ensuring scalability, consistency, and efficiency

across all digital products.

- Develop and maintain style guides, reusable UI components, and design tokens to

standardize design principles.

- Establish a centralized repository for UX/UI design standards, best practices, and component

libraries.

- Ensure accessibility and usability guidelines are well-documented and adhered to across

teams.

- Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to align UX/UI solutions

with business goals.

- Advocate for user-centred design principles in all product development discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Create intuitive, visually compelling, and accessible user interfaces for web and mobile

applications.

- Ensure consistency and coherence in UI components across platforms, maintaining brand

identity.

- Perform user research, surveys, and feedback sessions to understand user behaviours,

needs, and pain points.

- Analyse research findings to inform data-driven design decisions and enhance user

satisfaction.

- Transform business goals, user needs, and technical constraints into innovative and practical

UX/UI solutions.

- Develop user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to communicate design

concepts.

- Design interfaces that are fully responsive, ensuring seamless experiences across various

devices and screen sizes.

- Implement WCAG accessibility standards, ensuring inclusivity for users of all abilities.

- Work closely with developers, product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to

align design with project goals.

- Provide clear design documentation and assets for smooth hand-offs to development teams.

- Leverage HTML, CSS, JavaScript knowledge to create interactive prototypes and validate

design interactions.

- Collaborate with developers to ensure design feasibility and technical accuracy. (C#

experience is a plus.)

- Advocate for user-centred design principles, usability best practices, and accessibility

standards within the organization.

- Stay updated on emerging UX trends, tools, and methodologies to continuously enhance

design quality.

Minimum requirements:

- A Degree or diploma in UI/Design/Computer Science or related Qualification

- 2 years’ experience in a UX/UI design.

- 3 to 5 years minimum relevant working experience.

- Experience in UX/Interaction design specifically for web and mobile applications/platforms

preferred.

- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools.

- Knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to prototype

- C# knowledge would be advantageous.

- Experience in building and maintaining a design system.

- A portfolio of work demonstrating a proven track record for solving difficult UX design

problems and simplifying difficult requirements to intuitive interfaces for customers.

- User-Centered Design (UCD) Principles

- Strong visual design skills (layout, typography, colour theory).

- Prototyping and usability testing

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Project Management skills

- Experience with design systems and component-based frameworks (e.g., Material Design,

Tailwind CSS).
