The programme is designed to accommodate 70 qualifying members across two cohorts of 35 students each, with the first cohort starting on 02 December 2024; the programme intake opens on 31 October 2024 until 18 November 2024. Both cohorts will participate in an eight-week online curriculum with all modules to be completed by March 2025 and end of May 2025, respectively. The programme will cover critical topics such as copyright law, contract negotiation, brand management, and financial planning. The Music Business Skills Programme requires that all applicants have at least a minimum qualification of NQF level 4-6 or STD 8.
Now in its fifth year, The Music Business Skills Programme has cemented its reputation as a launchpad for SAMRO's Full and Associate members, equipping them with the professional knowledge required to flourish in today's fast-paced music industry. The programme fosters South Africa's thriving music sector by bridging the divide between musical proficiency and business practicalities. Through a series of immersive workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions, participants acquire a mastery of the music business universe.
"We take great pride in the transformative impact of the Music Business Skills Training Programme on our members' careers and lives. By equipping creators with essential business acumen, we are not only empowering them to thrive but also investing in the industry's long-term vitality and dynamism,” said Lesego Maforah, SAMRO’s CSI and Special Projects Manager.
SAMRO calls on all Full and Associate members to seize this opportunity to propel their careers forward. Members of SAMRO are encouraged to check their emails and text messages for communication containing application details. All application forms must be filled out and returned to SAMRO by 15 November 2024.
